Being Resigned

I don't know why, but I can't stand it today.

I wrote a letter of resignation, addressed To Whom It May Concern, and pinned it, unsigned and undated, to my noticeboard.

"Is that a threat?" A colleague asked.

"A ray of hope," I replied.

I see that there are any number of sad, squealing piggies who start blogs at some great moment of crisis, catastrophe or triumph, and then falter after post two when they either get over whatever it was they were micturating about, or realise that they've nothing interesting to say.

People need drama. They need hyperbole. Without these things they'd soon realise how dull and unimportant they are. People who are truly happy are those who've embraced mundanity, and are pleased with the small pleasures of life.

I'll never run for my country.
