Lest anyone take what I say around here as some sort of will to stray from my wife -- don't. Not going to happen. Not even in thought. While it might feel slightly disloyal to have thought about another woman's beauty -- ah, there's still plenty o' catholic left in me, eh? -- I've never so much as thought about straying from my wife.

I'll stop protesting before it becomes too much.

Pregnancy does make women tired, and I'm sure some women stop becoming interested in sex when they're pregnant, if for no other reason than that they need the sleep. But what doesn't seem to make the mainstream coinsciousness is that the hormones coursing during pregnancy around can also make women extremely... interested.

I kid you not.

And I was wondering just the other day whether this tendency for men to stray might not be down to a lack of action at home. I really love having a pregnant wife. There's some deep-seated, monkey-brained pleasure in it. And I ask myself whether it's not an unsatisfactory sex life that leads expectant fathers to stray, but perhaps some parallel to this unmentioned female sexual appetite: an overwhelming desire to knock up every woman he sees.

I'll never know.
