Maybe some old tricks. Maybe.

I had a blog, once. A different blog. I never told anyone about it, because I thought that I'd probably write more honestly if no-one knew about it. And I was honest, mostly. A little artistic license here and there, (yes, Mum, I now know that I can't get one of those down at the Post Office,) but mostly honest. Sometimes interesting, too. Sometimes embarassing, strange, or just a little bit incriminating. No comments, no publicity, probably no readers.

Unfortunately, as a friend once said, of some strange event or other, "you seem to be the kind of person that this kind of weird shit just happens to". I'm not shy about telling people about it, either, in whatever circumstances. And so, when I started looking for work, I realised that a clever person, intrigued by who had sent them this amazing CV, might hit Google in search of answers.

"Who is this witty, urbane and devilishly handsome man?" they'll ask.

All well and good as long as they're just looking for me. But if they start looking for some of the things I might have said, some of the phrases I might have used, some of the more singular events I might have alluded to... Oh dear.

So I killed that blog, quick-smart. It's gone now. Even Google can't find it, and it never got as far as The Wayback Machine, presumably because no bugger ever read it. Thankfully.

The irony is that I started the blog because I had a backlog of "interesting stories" that I was going to tell, which I never got round to doing for one reason or another. Probably because they'd too easily identify the blogger as me. So I won't make any promises this time, other than to try and keep up to date with the usual drivel'ry that makes up an ordinary life.

At least this time I won't find myself scrabbling for vaguely interesting things to say that are easily anonymised while biting my tongue about the vaguely interesting things that are keeping me busy.
