I knew I should have taken a GPS.
After defacing my friend James' PodQuiz Frappr map I thought I'd have a quick mess and create my own Google Map of the route I took the other day. It had always struck me as a lot of effort for no good reason, but times change, and I'd never had a route I wanted to illustrate.
Well, it was an awful lot of effort for no good reason. Not Google's fault, it's just tedious plotting all those points out. At first, I was going to plot the actual line I took, but a few hundred points in I was barely a quarter of the way through the route -- plotting at any coarser level would have left a very misleading trail. So I scrapped that and instead I just left a minimum of place markers to follow. See if you can plot the route between them.
Of course, if I owned a GPS, this would all have been so much simpler. I was messing with a new unit the other day, and had yet another I Love Lucy/ Crocodile Dundee moment. Switch it on, watch it grind away for minute after minute, until it eventually decides, with a 78% degree of accuracy, that I'm somewhere in the southern hemisphere. Yeah, okay, nice to see how far things have come.
I digress. Enjoy:
